Running HA NFS with VCS 5.0

If you have ever tried to setup HA NFS using VCS on Solaris 10, you would have found that both the manual and support notes are incorrect for the services that have to be disabled.

Here is a list of steps for disabling (not deleting) services on a Solaris 10 host prior to running HA NFS

svccfg -s nfs/server setprop “application/auto_enable = false”
svccfg -s nfs/status setprop “application/auto_enable = false”
svccfg -s nfs/nlockmgr setprop “application/auto_enable = false”
svccfg -s nfs/mapid setprop “application/auto_enable = false”
svcadm refresh nfs/server
svcadm refresh nfs/status
svcadm refresh nfs/nlockmgr
svcadm refresh nfs/mapid
svcadm disable svc:/network/nfs/server:default
svcadm disable svc:/network/nfs/status:default
svcadm disable svc:/network/nfs/nlockmgr:default
svcadm disable svc:/network/nfs/mapid:default
