Determining the voltage of memory in a T5120/T5220 T5140/T5240
December 9, 2010
Posted by on The T2/T2+ based Sun systems shipped originally with 1.8V memory and then switched to 1.5V.
This can be problematic for upgrades as the voltages have to match.
Here is a quick way to figure out what you have
1. Login to the iLOM
2. Run showenvironement (alom) or show show /SYS/MB/V_VMEML (ilom)
3. Look at the voltage sensors section

Voltage sensors (in Volts):

Sensor Status Voltage LowSoft LowWarn HighWarn HighSoft
——————————————————————————–
/SYS/MB/V_+3V3_STBY OK 3.36 3.13 3.17 3.53 3.60
/SYS/MB/V_+3V3_MAIN OK 3.36 3.06 3.10 3.49 3.53
/SYS/MB/V_+12V0_MAIN OK 12.16 10.90 11.15 12.85 13.10
/SYS/MB/V_VDDIO OK 1.13 1.00 1.02 1.18 1.20
/SYS/MB/V_VCOREL OK 1.10 1.02 1.06 1.15 1.18
/SYS/MB/V_VCORER OK 1.10 1.02 1.06 1.15 1.18
/SYS/MB/V_+1V5_IO OK 1.51 1.39 1.44 1.57 1.61
/SYS/MB/V_VMEML OK 1.82 1.64 1.68 1.93 1.98
/SYS/MB/V_VMEMR OK 1.84 1.64 1.68 1.93 1.98
/SYS/MB/V_VBAT OK 3.06 — 2.69 — —
The VMem readings tell you that this server has 1.8V dimms installed.
For a 1.5V dimms, they would look like
/SYS/MB/V_VMEML OK 1.57 1.42 1.44 1.66 1.70
/SYS/MB/V_VMEMR OK 1.57 1.42 1.44 1.66 1.70
in iLOM mode it will look like
-> show /SYS/MB/V_VMEML
/SYS/MB/V_VMEML
